Video FAQ: How Do You Treat Sleep Apnea?

February 26, 2021

Filed under: Video FAQs — Dr. Erin Page @ 9:04 pm

The general treatment for sleep apnea is a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine. In short, this is a medical device where patients wear a mask at night that pushes air down the throat. The continuous flow of air keeps a patient’s airway kept open, eliminating the negative effects of sleep apnea.

Many people cannot stand wearing a CPAP, and subsequently do not treat their sleep apnea with this device due to its bulkiness, loud operation, and general discomfort.

Sleep apnea appliances are designed to reposition the jaw to open up the airway, allowing a patient to breathe easier at night and virtually eliminate sleep apnea and snoring. They are much smaller, emit no loud noises, can virtually eliminate sleep apnea — and are very cost-effective.
